How our Entry Level Enterprise ecommerce platform saved Blue Crane Digital $13,000 (and counting!)


Blue Crane Digital produces and markets popular training videos for digital cameras.  Seven years into the business, they are a thriving and successful company.  However, in 2010, they were still leaving money on the table since they didn’t have an online store, and they still didn’t have any kind of video streaming technology that their customers were clamoring for.  Bryan Poffenberger, President of Blue Crane Digital, drafted the requirements for a comprehensive web presence.  It called for an online store that would offer customers standard DVDs as well as video streaming, several layers of anti-piracy security, and an extensive, customized admin and customer portal to manage and play the purchased videos.  “Having these features are vital to the continued success of our organization”, says Poffenberger, “as it ensures our competitive edge in the industry.”  He realized a backend service would also be required to generate the license keys once the streaming video is purchased, put the key into a PDF document, and email it to the client.  All this had to integrate seamlessly with the online store.  In addition, the solution needed to be built quickly and cost effectively.  Time was sensitive, and Blue Crane Digital couldn’t wait years and spend a fortune on developing the site.  All these requirements were daunting for a company without a major IT operation, and especially one who has never ran an ecommerce website before.
